What is a shine? Shines are a vital and exciting element within Salsa. A shine is simply when you break away from your dance partner and do footwork, generally to the Mambo section of the music. Or for performers 'facing the audience'..... more below
Body Movement is an essential part of Salsa & other Latin dances such as Merengue, Cha, Zouk & Bachata. Learn body movement exercises & isolations to get the correct movement. Learn how & when to add it into shines & partnering etc.

SHINE…OR NOT TO SHINE…?
When we first start salsa
most of us have to get used to the whole ‘partner’ idea, which at
first seems to be a strange ‘invasion of space’; After a while, we
get so ‘comfortable’ with simply holding hands and tying and untying
knots, that the thought of letting go and ‘shining’ on our own becomes
quite confronting. We don’t know what to do with our feet or our bodies, and the shapings and ‘moods’ of
some steps may be a little unfamiliar at first. However shines are really liberating!
It allows the leader and follower equal possession and enjoyment of the song,
without breaking the ‘partnership’
bond. To avoid them is missing out on half the experience
of salsa. Shines should not overtake the dance, but it is an exciting break in patterns to watch
and is great fun to do.
What
Level is it?: Anyone at any level can give it a go, however we will be aiming it to these levels: Improvers, Intermediate+
Partners?: No partner is needed, this is footwork only.

Learn 3 of the following Latin Dances; which will rotate each time we run these intros. "Ideal for New Beginners!" or if you want to try new styles out.

You will learn from Salsa Latina's teachers which will teach the basics of some of these Latin dances in these introduction classes, known as "Intro's". To take it further the best thing to do would be to enrol in a Beginners Salsa 8 week Course, plus you still get a 1st Free class as well. check the dates on the timetable or enrolment page - enrol below
Can I join? Yes, these are ideal for absolute beginners and for those who want to learn about another dance style. Or if you just wanna have some fun, its very social. So bring a few friends to try this class out. Please enrol if you haven't enrolled in a Salsa Latina previously.
Salsa Night After: Then after the class its "Thursday Salsa Night" infact this is part of the evening, so feel free to carry on dancing till midnight, it's Free entry and BYO Drinks, so make a night of it! more>

Salsa Bridge Course - This is a short 4 week supplemental course that is optional to take, we recommend taking this level either after Beginners Salsa or as well as Improver Salsa Level. You will learn Variations & fun combos that are based on Beginner Fundamentals. Plus learn basic dips and learn 2 extra beginners 'fundamentals' a well as new shines.
Can I Join this Level? Join this level 'any time' after completing the Beginners level. Where do I go after completing? Join in the Improvers Level course.

Salsa Belly Dance Fusion Part 1
• Saturday 12th November 2:00 – 3:30 pm
Salsa music is happy and energetic and the dance moves are fun and sexy! That’s why Victoria thought of making an explosive combination and mixed Salsa with Belly Dance! She came up with some sexy combos that can be danced to any Salsa rhythm music. In this workshop we’ll go through five combos that will keep us dancing non-stop to the Salsa beats of the pop Egyptian song Toul Omri (All my Life) by Nawal Al Zoghbi. A fun and energetic workshop that you can’t miss, and you can always use your new-learned Belly Dance moves to add an exotic flavour to your Salsa dancing!
Salsa Belly Dance Fusion Part2
• Saturday 19th November 2:00 – 3:30 pm
In this workshop there will be a review of the combos learned in Part 1, and then we’ll learn some more combos with a different flavour adding shimmies, turns and speed!!! We’ll warm up to lively Latin music and next we’ll learn the new combos while dancing to a variety of Salsa/Middle Eastern rhythms. This workshop will leave you energised and happy for the rest of the day and I can assure you that you’ll have a lot of fun!
