Social Dance Night Join us for a Hot Salsa Night at 'The Base Bar & Nightclub' - located in the heart of Sol Square in Christchurch. Course Length: 12 weeks for the basic styling/choreography routine, with the option of continuing with the performance level course after this.
Level: Improvers & Above

Come and join the team that won the Shine Team award at the 2010 South Island Salsa Competition "Salsa Revolution", (Supported by Salsa Latina)
Rachelle will be running a second ladies styling course with the option of carrying this on to the performance level course - perfect for those improvers/intermediate level dancers who want to work on their body movement, styling and confidence on the dance floor.
The main body of the course runs for 10 weeks, during which time you will learn a choreography to a set song. The moves and style you get from this can easily be taken into your social dancing and you will notice your enjoyment and ability to move to the music improve ten-fold! For those ladies wanting to have the opportunity to perform, you can then choose to continue with regular weekly classes where the choreography will be further polished with a focus on performance and presentation skills.

Cost: $110 for the initial 10 weeks, or $15 drop in. If you choose to continue to performance level it is then an extra $40/month (no drop-ins for this one!) as well as costume costs. Please see Rachelle for more details.

Cha Cha On2 (4 week Course) Open Imp/Int Level: Cha Cha sometimes referred to as the triple Mambo is an off shoot of Mambo On2. Learn how to dance on the (2) and learn how the beats work in the course. You will also learn some cool, groovy fun improver & intermediate level combos. Level? Open to any level, but ideally you will need to know all beginners Salsa fundamentals and be in the improver level & above. Note this is not a free first class.

Brazilian Percussion. Friday 12th November 7:30 - 9:30pm This Workshop will cover in detail the techniques and rhythms used in Brazilian samba schools. Instruments provided.
Samba de Roda. Saturday 13th November 4pm - 5:50pm A full immersion into the rhythm and movement of Samba. A glimpse at the roots of Samba.
Body Percussion using Rhythms of Brazil. Saturday 13th November 2pm - 3:30pm Learn traditional styles through movement and rhythm. Stepping, clapping and using your body to explore musical possibilities.

Quake Recap: After a massive 7.2 Earth Quake hit Christchurch on the 4th of Sept & with a series of aftershocks caused Manchester courts building to become unstable. 'Salsa latina resided in the first level', currently it is now being demolished.

New Timing Salsa CD (2010) or Mp3 Set (2009) contains essential timing, rhythms & music for salsa dancers. it's for beginners to advanced levels. It contains counts so you can get used to stepping in time with salsa and give you not only music to practice to, but knowledge of how salsa music is constructed, so you can become a better dancer. Salsa Latina uses tracks in its classes, it will train your brain to stay in time. There is a total of 13 tracks and tempos ranging from slow to med paced songs and now includes a bonus cha cha percussion track.

Bonus Info - This is also a learning system, you will also be given a hidden link to this website that will give you information on how to use these tracks, this is to aid your learning on how the music is constructed and how to learn to dance in time and find that (on1) count.
