	New Salsa Level (Beginners 2) - From the beginning of July we will be introducing a new beginners level (Beginners 2), its beginner level combos & variations based on Beginner fundamentals. This is an ALL NEW level aimed for those either finishing or have finished Beginners 1 level &/or those in improvers that need those extra easy fun combos. This is a "bridge level", meaning its an optional extra level, a 4 week supplemental level. This means we are left with 1 improver class on Tuesday. So how do people progress? For Example: Mondays Beginners 1 finishes you then join Beginners 2 then flow on to Improvers after 4 weeks. Or Tuesdays Beginners 1 finishes you then join Improvers & or Beginners 2 on Mondays when it starts or Both! This gives allot more options for everyone. Zouk Course Beginner 4 week Course If you haven't tried Zouk before, or if you have done our previous beginners Zouk courses you will learn something new. This is an open level course, it's for everyone including absolute beginners. Learn Zouk basics, style and technique. Including Neo Zouk influences.
What is Zouk? It's another fun Latin Dance that originates from Brazil with french influence, it's a relative of Lambada and is sometimes called Zouk Lambada.

Take your dancing to a new level & join our Salsa team! With the New Zealand Salsa Representatives 2009-2010....

Train with some of the best salsa dancers in New Zealand to perform or to learn about how to perform and learn a salsa routine which will develop your salsa tremendously! Learn and have the oppertunity to perform and compete in Salsa competitions, Congresses and more, with Salsa Sabrosa. We are always on the look out for new dance partners male & female. Must be keen to take it a level further into couple competition & and possibly train to teach.

Level You will need to know some salsa, but not essential if you have done form of dance training in the past.

Benefits: • Become part of a salsa team that is social and fun to be in. • Get trained to a high standard - you will look great on the social dancer floor and performing. • Learn the tips and tricks, big moves 'arials' that we don't teach in our salsa classes. • Improve your fitness and confidence.

About the Auditioning: • We will be running auditions as we would run a salsa class but with a close watch. • A combo from a routine will be demonstrated and we may partner you with someone and swap partners.... full info here>

What is a shine? a shine is simply when you break away from your dance partner and do footwork to the Mambo section of the music. Or for performers 'facing the audience'.
TO SHINE…OR NOT TO SHINE…? Shines are a vital and exciting element within Salsa. When we first start salsa most of us have to get used to the whole ‘partner’ idea, which at first seems to be a strange ‘invasion of space’; After a while, we get so ‘comfortable’ with simply holding hands and tying and untying knots, that the thought of letting go and ‘shining’ on our own becomes quite confronting. We don’t know what to do with our feet or our bodies, and the shapings and ‘moods’ of some steps may be a little unfamiliar at first. However shines are really liberating! It allows the leader and follower equal possession and enjoyment of the song, without breaking the ‘partnership’ bond. To avoid them is missing out on half the experience of salsa. Shines should not overtake the dance, but it is an exciting break in patterns to watch and is great fun to do.
What Level is it?: Anyone can give it a go, however we will be aiming it to these levels: Improvers, Intermediate & beyond.
Learn a Salsa shine dance pattern, this will be like a mini routine each week and it will show you how to fit footwork into salsa music.
On1 & On2? You will be learning how to dance shines On1 & then On2 conversions.
Partners?: No partner is needed, this is footwork only. This workshop is for Men & Ladies!

Salseros from all around the New Zealand Christchurch, Dunedin, Westcoast, Blenheim, Nelson, Wellington, Wanganui & Auckland will combine this year and spend an awesome snowy winter weekend in Hanmer to move to the rythms of Salsa, Bachata, Merengue and Cha cha cha at the Hanmer Memorial Hall.
